Beatitudes Mission was founded in 2003 by Deacon Joe and Sylvia Sicat. They were inspired by a deep commitment to serve others with compassion and dignity.
Since the late 1980s, Deacon Joe and Sylvia made their home in the Bay Area, where they became active members of the Pleasanton community. As long-time parishioners of St. Augustine and St. Elizabeth Seton, they dedicated themselves to both church and community life, always seeking ways to give back.
In the early 2000s, they felt called to make an even greater impact. Drawing from their personal experience caring for Sylvia’s parents at home, they recognized the need for a more compassionate, home-like approach to elder care. This led them to establish Beatitudes Mission as a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE), also frequently referred to as an assisted-living home. Their mission was simple yet powerful—which is to create a place where seniors felt safe, valued, and truly at home when they could no longer live independently.
Deacon Joe passed away in 2021, followed by Sylvia in 2025. Today, their legacy for helping the elderly community lives on through their children and their dedicated staff, who continue their parents’ mission of providing heartfelt care and preserving the sense of home and family that Beatitudes Mission was built upon.
